Where To Find Me

It’s time to update everyone on what projects I’m currently working on, where I’m writing, and what’s in store for next year. First, I’m still writing my Sharp Edges column over at Shadowproof, freelancing as a contributing writer for Paste Magazine Politics, and co-hosting the Delete Your Account podcast with Kumars Salehi. Adding on to this, I’m writing for Mondoweiss, working as a researcher for an independent media publication, contributing to Verso Book’s blog, and I’m working on compiling a collection of essays on Islamophobia and anti-Arab discrimination called Pillars Of The Temple [image of the (work-in-progress) cover is below]

I’ll be working with an artist to create a fitting image for the cover that can acompany the very minimalist design I’ve created above. This will be an entirely independent project and will feature essays that I haven’t published elsewhere—once it’s done, which I’m hoping will be around February, I will be selling it primarily through my website.

In other news, I’ve pulled the plug on my personal Patreon page due to the many issues I was having with the service, and due to me wanting to drive more traffic to my own website. So, in its place, I’ve decided to run monthly fundraising campaigns here. The first one will cover the cost of putting this collection of essays together, living expenses, and anything else associated with my work. You can donate by using the button below:

  1. If you're able to, consider supporting this project and costs associated with my writing work!
    $0.00 donated of $1,000.00 goal

Finally, I am always looking for freelance work and if you have something available do not hesitate to drop me a line. You can send an email to roq.chams [@]

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send me an email. Thanks to everyone for the tremendous support this year!

As many of you already know, I’m in New York for a year, working as researcher on The Empire Files. The show covers themes involving empire, war/imperialism, and inequality. If you haven’t been watching it on TeleSUR you can still find it on Youtube. We have tremendously powerful episodes coming out every week, so be sure to tune in!

Patreon and Wanderings. Magazine

no thumb

I have received a number of questions since starting Wanderings. Magazine, specifically in regards to Patreon, the monthly subscription process, Paypal, and Scribd – so I will do my best to answer them below.

What is Wanderings. Magazine?
Wanderings. Magazine is a literary and art magazine I have created, entirely on my own. Every poem, work of fiction or artwork that you find inside belongs to me or the artist credited (who are also paid by me for their submission).

Are you accepting submissions?
No. As of today I am not accepting any submissions. This is because I would like to be able to provide a stable, set pay to for pieces of work and as of now I cannot guarantee this.

Will you ever accept submissions?
Yes. It may take a few months, or more, but I would like to have bi-monthly editions that feature works from other artists, and writers.

How much is Wanderings. Magazine?
The magazine is $5 USD

How does Patreon’s subscription work? Why do you have different prices listed?
Patreon is a platform where artists and their supporters can engage with one another and where artists can receive support from those who enjoy their work. The subscription process for Wanderings. Magazine is simple:

Pay $5 USD a month and receive a PDF copy of the magazine and access to my Patreon-only feed.
Pay $10 USD a month and receive a PDF copy of the current edition as well as previous editions, and access to my Patreon-only feed.
Pay $20 USD a month, receive a PDF copy of the current edition, the previous editions, and a postcard sent via post and access to my Patreon-only feed.
Pay $50 USD a month receive a PDF copy of the current edition, the previous editions, (and one in print once that is available), a monthly postcard, a piece of mixed media artwork and a mystery box which is to be sent out each month and access to my Patreon-only feed.

All rewards are sent out once payment has been accepted at the end of the month.

What happens if my payment does not go through?
If, for whatever reason, your Patreon payment is not accepted I will immediately remove you from the patron list and send you an email, so as to avoid any issues with your credit card/debit card/etc. After 24 hours I will ask you to check your account to make sure there has been no activity. If everything is clear I will then ask you to use Paypal to send the payment instead.

I don’t want to pay a monthly subscription, is there a way I can donate just once?
Yes. There is an option at the payment page on Patreon for you to submit a one-time-only payment. You will not have access to the Patreon feed, where I post updates as the editions are made, after your subscription expires and you will not receive rewards.

I don’t want to use Patreon, do you accept Paypal? What are the other platforms I can find Wanderings. Magazine?

Yes, I do accept Paypal payments. Please use the subscription form on the sidebar and not the regular website Paypal button (as these donations are for this website only). Wanderings. Magazine is also being sold on Scribed for $6.99, due to the high fee that Scribd takes from authors, and begins selling 2 weeks after it first comes out.

If you have any questions about the magazine or this website do not hesitate to send me an email:
